EAT Pop-Up Coming to The Ambassador

Since August of 2009, chef Tommy Halvorson (Bix, Adagia, Eccolo, Gary Danko, Chez Panisse) has been whipping up local, sustainable, affordable Californian street food at his pop-up restaurant EAT at 111 Minna on Monday nights. According to EAT partner/manager Crystal S. Yang, the next pop-up will be at The Ambassador come summer. In preparation for this new gig, EAT at 111 Minna will move from a weekly to monthly occurrence, starting in May. Specifically, they will run weekly until April 12 then re-open on Monday, May 3 on a first-Monday-of-the-month basis (unless it falls on a holiday, then they will run on the 2nd Monday). In addition to Halvorson's tapas - the majority of which are priced between $5 and $9 and are described as "slightly dressed up" street food - there will be cocktails, a live DJ, and possibly live painters and/or dessert provided by a street food cart. Creme Brulee Cart, Smitten Ice Cream, and Sweet Constructions have made appearances in the past, and rumor has it that Gobba Gobba Hey might be cued up in the near future. [Eaterwire]
