Cafe Gratitude Sans Lease

INNER SUNSET—As noted by BA Veg, Cafe Gratitude's lease is over at the end of the month. However, they'll be staying open for some time on a month-to-month basis. They will eventually close when a new tenant is found or the business doesn't break even anymore, with fall '09 being the estimate for the latter scenario. A little more digging reveals that the landlord wanted to strap the cafe into a 20-year lease. Ouch. [EaterWire]

COLICCHIOWIRE— In an interview with YumSugar, Mr. Tom Colicchio talks sandwich trends: "Everyone keeps talking about bahn mi. It's like bahn mi. Bahn mi. Bahn mi. I'm so over bahn mi ... I think it will be something inspired by Indian street food." [YumSugar via ENY]
