Eater Inside: Press Club

The pretty gal you see above, Press Club, finally opened a few weeks ago in the basement of the Four Seasons on the quickly-developing Yerba Buena Lane. The deal, as you probably know by know, is a unique one: upstairs on street level, a retail wine shop exists, but the main attraction is downstairs, where in addition to a wine bar and lounge, eight local wineries have separate tasting areas. Patrons navigate the bars with a "press pass" in hand, which functions as a sort of credit card that gets paid at the end of the night (or day, we suppose). The sprawling 9000-square-foot space is heavy with woodwork and concrete floors, and was designed by Baldauf Catton von Eckartsberg Architects, who it should be noted also did the Ferry Building Marketplace. Plenty of further reading on Press Club can be had in the Eater Archives, as well as in the Sipping News, Yum Diary and UrbanDaddy.
