Little Mac Screws McDonalds

Today the EaterWire was aflame with news that Allison Arevalo found a new name for her unrealized Oakland macaroni and cheese restaurant: Homeroom.

You'll remember she's had a tough go of it so far, what with McDonalds cracking down on her Little Mac moniker early on. And after a month long naming contest, which prompted names like Macsterbation, Gruyay! and Hellaroni to funnel into her inbox with abandon, Arevalo and her partner Erin Wade came up with their new label independently: "We felt bizarrely grateful for the corporate evil of Mcdonalds," says Arevalo.

"Because we ended up with a name that was really a better fit for our restaurant than the first one we had come up with." And even though none of the competitors won in the end, Homeroom is giving a free meal to their ten favorites upon opening, which isn't happening any time soon. In the meantime, the fried mac and cheese from 4505 Meats (pictured) might do the trick.
