Mollie Stone's Makes a Move to the Castro

The mystery of what will happen with at least one of the storefronts vacated by Delano's Market has been solved.

Bay Area grocer Mollie Stone's Market announced that it will move into the vacant space at 4201 18th St. in San Francisco's Castro neighborhood.

The building used to be home to Delano's Market, which recently closed shop in San Francisco.

Mollie Stone's Market said it hopes to open its ninth location in the City by March.

"The Castro Market is in one of the finest and most vibrant neighborhoods in California; we believe it will beautifully blend with our Mollie Stone's culture," co-owner David Bennett said in a statement. "We understand the passion and expectations in the neighborhood, and we will stop at nothing to provide an outstanding shopping experience. We look forward to developing strong, rewarding relationships with each and every customer."

The move will be welcomed by some in the neighborhood who were hoping for a Trader Joe's to open in the Castro. That plan has been put on hold for now.
