TV Chefs Coming to Black Hole for BBQ

Anyone who's ever been to an Oakland Raiders pre-game tailgate party knows there's nothing like it in the NFL. An entire Raiders fan metropolis pops up around Oakland Coliseum, rich with giant Raiders sculptures, extravagant Raiders costumes, and some of the most outstanding BBQ this side of the MacArthur Freeway.

The gourmet TV chefs of the world are beginning to notice.

The nationally syndicated gourmet television food series Bringing It Home is coming to the Raiders game tailgate party this Sunday for the team's home opener. They'll tape a segment in the parking lot before the game to highlight Raider Nation's considerable talents in the pre-game BBQ department.

It's not your first close-up, Raiders tailgaters. Guy Fieri hit a Raiders tailgate party last year for a video segment on his Food Network series Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

But Bringing It Home is a classy gourmet show. They would not typically visit a parking lot in Oakland.

The Raiders tailgating episode of Bringing It Home will feature BBQ guru Chris Lilly, a world BBQ champion and honorary James Beard Foundation chef. This particluar episode will air locally Sunday, Oct. 10 at 9:30 a.m. on KNTV.

Joe Kukura is a freelance writer who just hopes these gourmet food people don't get eaten alive in the Black Hole.
