The Dish: Green Papaya, Tuttimelon/Belgano

1) SoMa: A few lower-profile openings took place over the weekend. Up first, Green Papaya debuted in the heavy foot-traffic stretch of Mission right next door to Mel's and across the street from Bloomingdale's and Westfield. As you may surmise from the name, it's a Vietnamese restaurant, and certain-colored fruit is indeed on the menu. 825 Mission Street, between Fourth and Fifth; (415) 345-8881 [EaterWire]

2) Noe Valley: In the entirely odd category, Belgano returned from its month-long hibernation with new Tuttimelon ownership, as expected. However, rather than convert it into another full-on froyo shop, they've crafted a combination venue (Tuttigano? Belgamelon?). The result is a haphazard room with a gelato, the familiar frozen yogurt menu, and presiding over it all, those wavy 3D walls that we're pretty sure are requisite for all things froyo. 3901 24th Street, at Sanchez; (415) 647-4266; website [EaterWire]For more stories from Eater SF, go to sf.eater.com.
