Among their reasons: more women are working and thus not cooking anymore, tax laws favor dining out, the Immigration Act of 1965 (yes really), "Better Alternative to Home" restaurants are flourishing, and thanks to the Food Network, eating out has become a source of entertainment, like the movies during the Depression.
