Cal Academy Takes Platinum

Never, ever walk away from an opportunity to diss New York, just a little. Like when Gavin, breaking ground for the new Transbay Terminal, called it the "Grand Central of the West"— but really more like when the director of the Cal Academy of Sciences calls Central Park "Golden Gate Park East." Or like when Gavin says the Cal Academy of Sciences is the "envy of New York City."

Well, maybe it is. But more likely it's now the envy of the delayed Embarcadero hanging gardens, which were slated to take the Platinum LEED title before being coldly shut down by the Board of Supes. That's right: Platinum LEED has gone to the recently reopened museum, making it, well, super super green. But we already knew that. [SF Citizen]
