Just as we're strapping in for a scuffle over the Golden Gate Bridge's proposed wall-of-some-sort, a panel at the Golden Gate Bridge District approves the design for a barrier of the less controversial variety. A new 32-inch-tall concrete-steel median, costing an impressive $25 mil, will go up to prevent head-on collisions along the bridge. The barrier will be moveable (by "Zipper" truck) so lanes can be changed depending on traffic flow, and should be up by 2010. We can't wait to see the Zipper truck. [KCBS]
