Three years after its purchase, Westfield and Forest City are finally going to do something with the Metreon, SoMa's languishing high-tech mall playground. Expect "food and culture" over retail, and with businesses oriented more toward the street than the interior of the space. Probably a good move in this market, and in the museum-heavy Yerba Buena area. Let's just hope the Metreon doesn't become a twice-over symbol for economic failure.
