NASA Wants to Invest More in Moffett Field

NASA's historically astronomical funding may be on Mr. Obama's chopping block but that isn't stopping the department from going after funding for Moffett Field.

The joint civilian-military airport in the South Bay is in dire need of some upgrades. NASA is planning to spend $20 million to help restore the site formerly rub by the naval air station. The NASA Ames Research Center now operates at the historic site.

Between $15 and $40 million are needed to restore the siding of the air field's historic Hangar One, according to the San Francisco Business Times.

NASA is seeking Congressional approval for $20 million to start on the work and U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto, is looking to secure another $10 million.
