Newsom Bets the House on the Giants

Team makes playoffs for the first time since 2003.

San Francisco is proudly flying the flag of the Giants over city hall this week but for how long?

If Mayor Gavin Newsom has his way, not only will the Giants banner be draped across San Francisco City Hall for the rest of the month but it will also fly over Atlanta City Hall next week.

The lifelong Giants fan -- who actually celebrated his "dadchelor party" at AT&T Park -- is so confident his the Zito-less playoff roster will beat the visiting Atlanta Braves in the first round of the National League playoffs, that Newsom bet one of the City's most prominent pieces of real estate on it.

Newsom and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed agreed to fly the other teams banner over their city hall if their hometown team was to lose the serious.

The two also promised to give the winning mayor a personal tour of the losing city. But perhaps the most lopsided part of the friendly wager is the promise that the losing mayor will send over a package of his city's finest food.

Who wants to eat day old "New Southern" cooking anyway?
