San Francisco Theater Planning to Serve Booze

It didn't save Oakland's Parkway Theater but maybe a twist on the formula will serve up better results.

A San Francisco theater has secured a liquor license but instead of showing canned Hollywood movies while serving booze, Z Space is known more for hosting live performances, art installations and more, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

The Board of Supervisors City Operations and Neighborhood Services Committee approved the license for the theater on 450 Florida St., which Z Space has signed a long term lease for.

Oakland's popular Parkway Theater for years was one of the few movie theaters in the Bay Area that served alcohol during performances. But despite the flowing taps the theater closed just over a year ago.

The Parkway's owners blamed the troubled economy and not the booze. Maybe live art and liquour will help keep patrons cups have full.
