In the works for nearly a year and a half, tween-friendly shoe shop Sketchers has finally opened up at 200 Powell Street, previously unoccupied for several years but which recently underwent a $2.4 million renovation and retrofit. At one point in time, the owner -- who also holds 33 Grant, current home of agnès b -- was entertaining single or multiple tenants. Enter the rumor mill: While a restaurant was hoped for (OK, we admit it: by us) what we're left with is: Sketchers. On two levels. Two. Levels. Of Sketchers. No condos, no restos. (Collecting ourselves here ... ) The cost: $1 million in annual rent.
