Taylor Street could be getting a new look in the city.

Whatever happened to that plan to transform Market Street from 10th to 5th into a theater/arts district?

A mini version of that slated for lower Taylor Street is moving forward, anyway: a five-story building on the first block of Taylor is going from adult theater, bar, and liquor store to the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts, which according to the SFBT will feature "an art gallery, artists’ studios, new-media lab, cafe and artists' boutique."

It should be the first move in Mayor Gavin Newsom's push to turn the area into a new arts district. What, a strip show's not art?
