Controversial Wartime Game Hits Stores

EA's attempt to get back to the top of the virtual warfare world will be centered around controversy.

The Redwood City-based video game company released its controversial video game "Medal of Honor" overnight.

The game hits the shelves embattled in controversy over an earlier version that allowed gamers to play as the Taliban and shoot virtual representations of American soldiers.

The US military banned sales of the game on bases because of the Taliban flap. Military families criticized EA for the decision.

Eventually, EA reversed course and took away the Taliban title. Gamers can still play as the old representation but without the Taliban label.

The game is available on the PS3, the XBOX and Windows machines for $60.
