Need a Computer? Now Might be the Time to Buy

In the market for a computer?

This may be the time to head out to your favorite store and start shopping.

Demand for personal computers is down -- way down. And these days computer makers are trying to find ways to lure customers back to the stores.

One tried and true method: deeper price cuts and other promotions -- likely even more cuts and deals than those being offered during the depths of the recession.

This past Friday, Intel -- the huge computer chip maker -- lowered its forecast for the third quarter of the year.

It reported that demand for consumer PCs has been weaker than expected, which is great news if you live in the center of the digital world and need a computer.

You might want to stick to PCs though. Prices on Apple's popular laptops haven't budged.
