Thanks for Nothing Coldplay

Band offers cd to beat the recession

Members of the mega pop group Coldplay want to help out during these difficult times.

Not only will the lads help you lighten your wallet, so you don't have to deal with pesky butt spasms or anything, but they will also throw in a free cd for their trouble.

Thanks Coldplay. We spend $100 bucks on a ticket and we get a cd with songs we've already heard? Thanks a lot.

The bands say they will reward recession-weary fans by giving away a free CD at all their shows this year.

The band says it will give away the disc, "LeftRightLeftRightLeft," at all shows starting with the first date of Coldplay's North American tour in West Palm Beach, Florida, on May 15. Tickets for that show start at about $60.

The boys will play the Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View on July 13. Tickets range from $35 to $97.50. You can get your hands on some from Live Nation

The nine-track disc will also be available as a free download from the band's Web site starting the same day.

It was recorded over the past year in various cities and includes the tracks "Clocks" and "Viva La Vida."

The band said in a statement Friday that the giveaway was meant as a "recession-busting mark of gratitude" to Coldplay fans.
