Toyota Repair Part Arrives

Steven's Creek Toyota in San Jose has received the much-talked about part needed to fix sticky accelerators on recalled Toyota's.

Mechanics got the part midday Wednesday and began fixing a few walk-in customers immediately.

Mechanics say it takes about 30 minutes to make the fix.

The part it is a little piece of metal the size of a nickel that is wedged to the accelerator mechanism.  Mechanics say it's meant to reduce the tension of the peddle.

The Steven's Creek dealership expects to make hundreds or fixes in the next couple of days.  They recommend people make appointment and not just show up.

Toyota said that would solve the problem -- which it said was extremely rare -- of cars unaccountably accelerating.
