Bay Area storm problems: Flash flooding, evacuations, flight delays

A powerful storm carrying heavy rains and gusty winds caused a number of problems across the Bay Area, including evacuations, flooding, power outages and road closures.

Here are the latest issues:

Evacuation warning issued in Monterey County

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office has issued an evacuation warning late Thursday due to the risk of flooding. See the sheriff's office X post below for further details.

Evacuation orders lifted in Santa Cruz County

All evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted in Santa Cruz County, according to the sheriff's office.

Residents in Santa Cruz County's census-designated place of Felton were evacuated due to flooding, county officials said earlier in the morning.

Authorities said the water levels of the San Lorenzo River may rise due to weather conditions, prompting the Sheriff's Office to evacuate residents in Felton Grove.

Residents on College, Holohan, Grimmer and Lakeview roads in the Watsonville area also are under evacuations, the sheriff's office said.

People can look up if they are in an evacuation zone at https://protect.genasys.com/. County officials said a temporary evacuation point was being set up at Scotts Valley Community Center.

Downed tree blocks lanes in North Bay

The California Highway Patrol reported Thursday afternoon a downed tree is blocking both lanes of Ramal and Duhig roads at Skaggs Island Road. This area is in the Napa and Sonoma counties line.

Rockslides, mudslides in the Santa Cruz Mountains

The CHP Santa Cruz office said it has received reports of rockslides and mudslides on Soquel San Jose Road in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Flooding shuts down portion of East Bay freeway interchange

Flooding prompted the closure of southbound Interstate 680 to westbound Interstate 580 in the Dublin-Pleasanton area, the CHP said.

SFO flights delayed

The weather has caused delays for arriving flights at San Francisco International Airport, according to an SFO spokesperson. Arriving flights are delayed an average of 1 hour, 53 minutes.

Because of the arrival delays, departing flights also could be affected, the airport said. Check with your airline to determine if your flight is affected.

Gilroy streets flooded

Video footage early Thursday morning showed flooding along Wren Avenue in Gilroy. Other streets in the city also saw flooding.

Also in Gilroy, Silva's Crossing, at Uvas Park Drive and Miller Avenue, was closed down indefinitely due to standing water, and authorities asked the public to avoid the area.

Flash flood warning

A flash flood warning was in effect Thursday morning for Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties, according to the National Weather Service.
