Bay Area Air Conditioner Kicks In

A marine layer along the coast is bringing some relief to Bay Area residents after a weekend of scorching weather.

Temperatures rose past 100 degrees in parts of the East Bay Sunday, with Antioch seeing a high of 106 degrees.

San Jose saw a high of 96 degrees, while the thousands of people running in San Francisco's Bay to Breakers race had temperatures in the 80s to deal with.

In Oakland, about 5,000 homes and businesses had no air conditioning when a transformer blew, causing an outage for about three hours.

The National Weather Service says temperatures will be cooler today, but still unseasonably warm in the inland areas.

Forecasters are expecting a high of 82 degrees in San Jose, with San Francisco expected to hit 66 degrees.
