Big Snow on the Way to Tahoe

Loren says a foot could fall between late Wednesday into Thursday. And that is only the beginning because it is the first in a series of storms that is making its way toward Lake Tahoe.

Forecasters like to say when they see this pattern that "the storm door is open."

And we could be talking about snowfall measured in several feet by next week.  Loren said there is a lot of moisture on the way with the potential of six feet of snow above 7,000 feet by the time the measuring is complete. That's because there are more storms stacked up off the coast that could hit the Sierra Friday, Saturday and beyond.

The storms will also have an impact on the Bay Area with rain in the forecast starting Wednesday.

 The most important weather day of the week is Sunday with a NFC Championship game at Candlestick. The day could see some rain and a lot of wind.
