After a week of unusually high temperatures, the coldest storm of the season is expected to hit the Bay Area this week, leaving behind lots of rain here and lots of snow in the Sierra.
Starting right now temperatures will start dipping into record lows, with some areas seeing morning lows hovering around the freezing mark.
Rain is expected to hold off for most of Tuesday, with increasing chances of showers overnight.
The strongest period of the storm is expected to hit early Wednesday during commute hours (4 a.m. - 8 a.m.).
In addition to the rains, gusty winds up to 25 mph could make for treacherous conditions for morning commuters. The rain will hit the North Bay first and then move south. The NBC Bay Area weather department says everyone is going to get wet.
They say the storm will exit by Wednesday night with only lingering showers in the forecast into Thursday.
The storm is welcome new for Tahoe ski resorts. During the last 24 hours, North Lake Tahoe resorts have already seen up to 1.5 feet of new snow at their higher elevations. Mother Nature is expected to add as much as an additional three feet of snow to the region.
The storm is expected to blow out by Friday, just in time for everyone who will be headed to the Sierra to hit the slopes this weekend.
The skies will clear here in the Bay Area as well, with a sunny weekend forecast with highs in the 70s.
