This week's heat wave is going to feel like a distant memory and soon.
NBC Bay Area meteorologist Jeff Ranieri says big changes are on the way that could bring snow to Bay Area peaks by Sunday morning. That's just five days after record heat hit the Bay Area with highs in the 80s.
Thursday we returned to the normal range in the mid-60s and by Friday afternoon rain will be falling starting in the North Bay, blanketing the entire Bay Area by the weekend.
Outdoor activities could be trouble Saturday. The system that's headed our way is unsettled and that could mean thunder, lightning and hail.
Snow levels possibly as low as 2,000 feet which means both Mt. Hamilton and Mt. Diablo could get snow.
The snow is also going to fall in the Sierra and make for rough driving conditions on I-80. That is of course great news for the ski resorts. The forecast for Tahoe is between 15 and 30 inches of snow.
The wild weather will continue into Monday before things begin drying out for Tuesday.
