To avoid potential exposure to cancer-causing chemicals known as ‘PFAS,’ San Francisco intends to purchase new protective equipment for the city’s entire fire department. The endeavor is estimated to cost roughly $12 million, about $2.3 million of which will be paid for with a FEMA grant.
