BART Leaders Accused of Obstructing Inspector General, Lawmaker Aims to Bolster Watchdog Role

BART Inspector General Harriet Richardson is set to resign Friday after sharing harsh criticism of the transit agency and what she describes as repeated efforts by top leaders to obstruct her role as BART’s official watchdog. Senator Steve Glazer, D-Orinda, who helped write the legislation that created BART’s Office of Inspector General nearly four years ago, is now introducing a new bill to bolster the office’s independence and authority.
