24 HOURS OF ADRENALIN: Head down the coast a little to the Monterey Peninsula for a day of fast bikes -- human-powered, not gas -- at Laguna Seca Raceway. The world-class event, inspired by sports-car contests, applies the need for speed to road bikes. Whether you're riding or watching, you're welcome.
GO ECO-URBAN: Spend some time at San Francisco's Union Street Festival to see arts and crafts booths, listen to live music and feast on gourmet festival eats. This year marks the 33rd for the annual event and features a newly-added special eco-friendly block showcasing exhibits made from sustainable and recycled materials. The festival is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday from Union Street to Gough and Steiner.
VOLUNTEER: As part of National Trails Day, NBC Bay Area Proud invites you to help build a new section of the Bay Area Ridge Trail at Fernandez Ranch in Contra Costa County starting Friday and running through Sunday.
