Dogs Catch Some Waves at Annual San Diego Competition

It was surf’s up K-9 style along the San Diego County coast on Sunday. 80 canines hit the water trying to take home the title of “top dog” at the 11th Annual “Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon” at Dog Beach in Del Mar. There were wipeouts, doggie paddles and some were just along for the ride. The event is hosted by the Helen Woodward Animal Center, which says it’s the perfect end to those dog days of summer. The Helen Woodward animal center finds homes for more than 3,000 cats and dogs every year.
