Toddler Found in Hot Car in Sacramento Dies

Authorities in Northern California say a 2-year-old boy died at a hospital after being found unconscious inside a hot car.

Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Shaun Hampton says the boy was found in a car across the street from his Sacramento home on Saturday, when temperatures in the area were in the triple digits.

He says both deputies and paramedics gave CPR to the boy before he was taken to a hospital, where he died.

It's unclear how the child got trapped inside the vehicle.

Hampton says the child's death is believed to be heat-related but that the county coroner's office will do an autopsy.

He says no arrests have been made and that deputies continue to investigate.
