With businesses and restaurants ceasing their purchases of food as they close during the pandemic, many farms have a surplus of food that is rotting in the fields. Meanwhile food banks are running out of supplies and turning families away empty-handed, but farms can’t afford to hire workers to harvest food they can’t sell.
