A person was killed when a car crashed into a San Jose credit union after a collision Friday, police said.

Emergency crews responded at 11:46 a.m. to Alliance Credit Union, located at 265 Curtner Ave., for a report of a vehicle into a building.

Police said a preliminary investigation shows two vehicles were involved in a collision, with one of the vehicles ending up into the building.

A victim was pronounced deceased inside the building when police arrived on scene. Another victim has been transported to a hospital with unknown injuries, police said.

The victims were part of a painting crew working on renovations to the building. The credit union was not open for business when the crash occurred.

A spokesperson for Alliance Credit Union said it is still in the process of gathering information and declined to comment, except to say the work crew are contractors and "are like family."

Both drivers remained on scene and are cooperating with the investigation.

Westbound Curtner Avenue is closed between Little Orchard Street and Communications Hill Boulevard. Lanes are expected to stay blocked for several hours for the investigation, according to police.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Police Department's traffic investigations unit at 408-277-4654.

No other information was immediately available.
