7 Trillion Pieces of Microplatics Go Through SF Bay Annually

Every year seven trillion pieces of microplastics flow through San Francisco Bay, according to a new study by the San Francisco Estuary Institute and UC Davis. Researchers said that these tiny particles come from things like baby wipes flushed down toilets and that the Bay is more polluted than most other bodies of water because its narrow opening traps particles.
