Jack Dorsey's Square to Add 250 Jobs

San Francisco startup will double in size and seek $250 million in funding.

Square CEO Jack Dorsey spoke in front of hoards of Stanford engineering students on Wednesday, who were told to have their resume handy.

A day later, on Thursday, the Twitter co-founder made it known he is looking to hire more than a roomful of Stanford geniuses.

The mobile payments and credit card-processing company is reportedly looking to almost double its current staff from 250 to 500 people, according to The San Francisco Business Times.

The report also says that the 3-year-old company is looking to raise $250 million for a $4-billion valuation this year.

The young company just moved into a larger office this week in downtown San Francisco and announced that it is now processing $5 billion a year in credit cards.

Square makes its money by charging its customers 2.75 percent of every credit card transaction that it processes.

Dorsey also sat down with the Stanford Daily to talk about his talk and Square. You can hear the audio of that video below.
