Baby Killer Whale Welcomed at SeaWorld

The calf was born early Valentine's Day morning

A killer whale gave birth on Valentine's Day morning at SeaWorld, according to park officials.

The SeaWorld zoological team said 37-year-old orca Kasatka gave birth to the calf around 6:30 a.m. inside Shamu Stadium. The calf is estimated to weigh between 300 and 350 pounds and measure 6 to 7 feet.

Katsaka was pregnant for nearly 18 months, which is typical for a killer whale. The calf's gender is unknown and will be named at a later time.

SeaWorld's animal experts will observe the mother and calf round the clock for the first few days.
