Bay Area Halloween Events Guide 2021

Fall has returned, which means spooky season has officially arrived! Many Halloween events are returning after the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled a number of activities last year. But many locations will still have COVID-19 protocols in place, including proof of vaccination, indoor mask mandates and negative COVID-19 tests. From spooky mazes to more family-friendly ones. We've compiled a list below of the events we've come across throughout the Bay Area to help you celebrate this Halloween season!

Berkeley: Halloween Family Parade

Address: Fourth and Delaware streets in Berkeley

Time and Date: Oct. 31 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • While the City of Berkeley still can't celebrate their usual trick-or-treat event due to COVID-19 restrictions, they are having a parade on Halloween.
  • City organizers will be handing out goodie bags for children that will include treats, small toys, stickers and more.

Dublin: Ghosts of Dublin

Address: Dublin Heritage Park and Museums, 6600 Donlon Way Dublin, CA 94568

Dates: Oct. 22 and Oct. 23

  • The City of Dublin is hosing a flashlight tour through the Dublin Historic Cemetery for the "Ghosts of Dublin" event.
  • Organizers say visitors who attend the tour will "hear haunting stories of ghosts thought to be lurking in Dublin."

Mountain View: Monster Bash

Date: Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • The annual event returns will fun activities including games, mazes and shows.

Oakland: Boo at the Zoo

Address: 9777 Golf Links Road Oakland, CA 94605

Dates: Select days through Oct. 31

  • Oakland Zoo's popular Boo at the Zoo event returns for another year for the whole family to enjoy.
  • Some of the event's features include a self-guided scavenger hunt to find trick-or-treating animals hidden inside the zoo and a costume contest.
  • Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the zoo will not be doing a trick-or-treating activity, but instead they will hand out pre-stuffed goodie bags for all children attending the event.

Oakland: Halloween Jam at Children's Fairyland

Dates: Oct. 22 through Oct. 31

  • Children's Fairyland annual event returns with live performances and puppet shows that are free with park admission.

Pleasanton: Pirates of Emerson Haunted Theme Park

  • Located at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, the annual Halloween haunted park has returned as a walk-through for the public to enjoy.
  • The event will have COVID-19 restrictions to accommodate social distancing and limiting capacity.
  • This event will feature five haunted attractions for people to scream their heads off!

Santa Clara: Great America's Halloween Haunt

  • Great America's annual Halloween Haunt event returns after it was closed due to COVID-19 last year.
  • The event will feature scare mazes, spooky entertainment shows and frightening themed zones.

Santa Clara: Great America's The Great Pumpkin Fest

  • Is Great America's Halloween Haunt too scary for some family members? The theme park also offers a family-friendly version of their Halloween event during the day.
  • The Great Pumpkin Fest features a hay maze, decorating mini-pumpkins and treat-or-treating for children 12 and under.

San Jose: All Hallows' Eve at Winchester Mystery House

  • The famous Winchester Mystery House "All Hallows' Eve" is back.
  • The event will feature the "Lost In The House Tour," which organizers call "an indoor theatrical paranormal investigative adventure."
  • There's also a family-friendly Jack O’ Lantern Trail.

San Leandro: Fear Overload Scream Park

  • Organizers of this San Leandro attraction call this "The Bay's scariest and most elaborate haunted house event."
  • This Halloween attraction offers walk-throughs that will be filled with scares and the return of their trained actors in costume to scare the guests.
