Police are classifying a body found Friday morning on a chiropractic college campus in Hayward as a homicide, police said.
Police said officers responded to a report of a possible burglary at the Life Chiropractic College West, located at 25001 Industrial Blvd., around 1:50 a.m. When officers arrived, they found some damage to a window, apparently caused by a nearby U-Haul truck and white man in his 40's lying on the ground unresponsive.
Sgt. Tasha Decosta said a cook first spotted the body behind the truck. Police said the man was declared deceased at the scene.
Sgt. Ryan Cantrell said police are investigating the death as a homicide and are trying to determine what role, if any, the victim had in the burglary.
In a statement on its website, college officials said all indicators show the body is not that of a student, staff or faculty member.
The school was closed while police investigate the scene. The school is expected to reopen on Saturday.
