Dream Fire Contained at 5 Acres in Sonoma

Evacuations will remain in place for at least a few hours to allow crews to finish extinguishing the fire, the county Sheriff's Office said.

Officials said that there are several road closures in nearby neighborhoods and about a dozen homes have been evacuated due the brush fire in Sonoma.

A fire that prompted the evacuation of about a dozen homes in the city of Sonoma was contained Wednesday evening, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said.

Dubbed the Dream Fire on social media for its proximity to the Field of Dreams youth sports complex in Sonoma, the blaze started about 5 p.m. and burned a little more than five acres in the area of First Street West and West Spain Street.

Water drops by helicopter were used to help bring it under control.

Sonoma police and deputies from the county Sheriff's Office went door-to-door evacuating several residents on Norborm Road as a precaution.
