Climate Focus: No Commute Equals Smaller Carbon Footprint

One of the things the NBC Bay Area weather team has done is calculate how much carbon dioxide they are saving by not commuting to work. Meteorologist Kari Hall’s household typically averages about 60 metric tons of CO2 per year, but by not driving into work, she has saved about 22 metric tons over the past year. That’s the equivalent of powering about 3.7 homes for an entire year.
