Crews who were searching for a missing man near Brentwood following a boat crash during a fishing tournament said they have found a body in the water, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office said.
The boat crashed into a bridge around 11 a.m. Saturday near the Cruiser Haven Marina just east of Brentwood with two fishermen on board, according to the sheriff's office spokesman Jimmy Lee.
"The boat went into one of the bridge supports. However, we're also looking into the possibility that the boat may have struck something prior to that," Lee said.
Emergency responders looked for a missing fisherman for hours after the crash until they found the body at around 5:30 p.m., the sheriff's office said.
The other fisherman on board the boat at the time of the crash suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being released, according to Lee. That man also ended up in the water after the crash.
Reports said both fishermen were wearing life jackets at the time of the accident.
