Group Wants to Drain Hetch Hetchy

Environmentalist group Restore Hetch Hetchy filed a ballot initiative today that would make San Francisco water leaders draw up a plan in case voters decide to drain Hetch Hetch and remove O’Shaughnessy Dam. The group wants to revamp the water system and restore the Yosemite Valley. The director says San Francisco wastes more water than any other city in the state. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee calls the proposal “insane.” Brent Cannon discusses the initiative with it’s creator who needs to gather more than 9,000 signatures to get it on the ballot.
