M3.4 Earthquake Strikes Off the Coast of Santa Cruz: USGS

A preliminary 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck early Wednesday morning off the coast of Santa Cruz, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake, centered on Monterey Bay 7.4 miles west of Moss Landing, or about halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterey, hit at 2:57 a.m., the USGS said.

No other information was immediately available. Updates to come.
