The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened on westbound Interstate 580 in Oakland Saturday night.
All lanes have reopened on Interstate 580 in Oakland near the Interstate 980 connector following a fatal collision Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Westbound lanes of I-580 were closed near the MacArthur Boulevard onramp after a pedestrian attempted to run across the freeway and was struck by a vehicle at 9:15 p.m., the CHP said.
The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. The driver pulled over and remained at the scene.
Westbound lanes and the connection with I-980 were reopened at 12:16 a.m.

The collision remains under investigation.
