4-Alarm Commercial Building Fire in Vallejo Under Control

Firefighters are battling a four-alarm grass fire in Vallejo that has spread to a structure, officials said. Crews are not only battling the flames but also dealing with the winds. NBC Bay Area’s Rob Mayeda explains how the fire is affecting the weather in the area.

Firefighters have controlled a four-alarm grass fire in Vallejo that had spread to a commercial building, officials said.

The fire was reported in a single-story building on Sonoma Boulevard and California Street at around 4:45 p.m., a Vallejo fire dispatcher said. That is near the intersection of Redwood and Couch--west of Interstate 80.

Officials said the grass fire spread to the structure just west of the railroad tracks. The blaze was declared under control at about 6:10 p.m.

Solano County fire had requested more companies to help fight the fire. Crews were not only battling the flames but also dealing with the winds.

No injuries have been reported and no evacuations were ordered, the dispatcher said.
