PG&E officials said a gas line that broke in a San Mateo neighborhood Friday afternoon has been capped.
Some evacuations had been ordered this afternoon following the gas leak, a PG&E spokesman said.
Just before 1 p.m., a contractor dug into a 20-inch gas line that serves several businesses near 1990 Elkhorn Court, PG&E spokesman Joe Molica said.
Utility crews were at the site by 1:19 p.m. working to shut down the leak, Molica said.
At the time, San Mateo police and fire personnel also responded and ordered some evacuations, Molica said.
