Lawmakers Criticize Low Bar for SGIP Energy Subsidy

State assemblymen and environmentalists question the standards for hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies given to private companies, including Silicon Valley fuel cell maker Bloom Energy, through the Self Generation Incentive Program (SGIP). Critics say a new proposal by Michael Picker, president of the California Public Utilities Commission doesn’t go far enough to reduce greenhouse gases and spur new technology.
