Stanford Admissions Officer Accused of Stabbing Woman Appears in Court

The bizarre story continues to unfold involving an admissions officer at Stanford. He’s accused of stabbing a woman several times. On Wednesday, James Shirvell was in court. Investigators say he and a woman were at a San Francisco home over the weekend and experimenting with LSD when the attack happened. According to court documents, the victim was repeatedly stabbed with an 8-inch kitchen knife. The attack is described as “unprovoked.” The 26-year-old Shirvell faces charges of attempted murder and domestic violence. Both the family of the suspect and the woman he’s accused of stabbing urged the judge to show leniency in the case. The court ordered a psychological evaluation. Shirvell, who is an assistant director of admissions for Stanford, will be back in court next month. The university has placed him on leave.
