It’s a snow day all over Northern California.
No one missed class, but Thursday could still be considered a snow day here in the Bay Area.
The current storm hitting the area is a cold one and it brought measurable snow to our peaks.
According to the National Weather Service, the snow level hit 2,500-feet. That means Mount Umunhum, Mount Tam and Mount Diablo all got at least a dusting of snow.
Mount Hamilton got enough snow to close the road up the hill. The observatory says it expects three additional inches by Thursday night.
There are also reports that parts of northeastern Sonoma County got as much as 10-inches of snow.
Skyline Boulevard near Saratoga got 3 to 4-inches of snow overnight with more falling throughout the day.
And up in the Sierra they are measuring it in feet. Resorts are thanking the weather gods for what looks to be perfect timing for a new blanket of snow just before a three day holiday weekend.
Hail was the story of Wednesday night. Interstate 280 on the peninsula was nearly shut down because of the icy mix.
