Fires sparked in both Vacaville and South San Francisco Friday, one charring the well known South San Francisco sign and the other snarling traffic on I-80 in both directions. Cheryl Hurd reports.
Firefighters on Friday afternoon battled a brush fire burning on both sides of Interstate 80 in Vacaville.
The blaze was reported on the freeway at Midway Road on the northern edge of the city. At least 100 acres have burned.
Westbound lanes at Midway Road between Meridian Road were blocked while crews responded and traffic was being diverted off at the Midway Road off ramp, according to Caltrans.
