Oakland Aims to Crack Down on Illegal Dumping

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf says she has had enough of illegal dumping in her city. Schaaf says cleaning up the garbage, appliances and couches left on the streets is now costing the city over $5 million a year. Oakland is now hiring three full-time litter enforcement officers. The mayor wants to hire a specialized cleaning crew and improve lighting near known dumping hot spots.
